When we started making this documentary, I was not very excited about our topic, but after doing ample research and lots of talking to people about it, I am extremely educated on the topic and am much more involved in stopping it. I have become much more aware of what pollution is and how it is directly and indirectly caused. I have learned that making a documentary is much like writing a paper, only a lot harder because it can only be worked on at certain times and on certain computers. Blogging is not a new thing to me, but I had never thought of blogging as a class before now, and it is very cool to be able to communicate with people all over the world for your homework. I’m glad we chose this topic and everyone I know now is an expert on global warming causes and effects!

Tonight, Jenny and I traversed all the way down to Washington University (oh so far away! :P) to interview our group’s second expert, Kelley Greenman. Ever since I began working on getting this interview in place, I thought it would for sure be interesting and educating, but I never imagined it would be this much fun!
Kelley was one of the sweetest girls I have ever met, and so incredibly personable. She was very willing to share any needed information and do whatever was necessary for us to have the best interview possible and did her best to teach us things that aren’t widely known. For example, did you know that eating meat, poultry, fish, and eggs contirbutes to Global Warming?? Crazy, huh?
While being professional, well educated in the subject, and mature, Kelley was also very much a kid. She was extremely easy to get along with and related to Jenny and I very well. This was certainly an interview I won’t soon forget. Thank you Kelley for this wonderful opportunity, and thanks to our drivers, Mrs. Pomerantz and Mrs. Rosen!
Today ((today being last week)) in class we did some planning. We figured out a few visual metaphors to use and have one ready to use now. We also figured out more questions, the order we were going to put things in, and some people to interview. We are now in the process of setting up an interview with Kelley Greenman as an expert for our group. This should be awesome!
On Friday, we did our street interviews down on Fee Fee, and it was quite an interesting experience. It took our group a while to find someone to interview, but once we did, our interviews turned out quite well. The first person was not very knowledgable or insightful, but the other three had some great things to say and one of them really challenged us. I’m happy with the results!
- Teen cruising down the highway- shows the use of gas as a fossil fuel
- Smokestack of a factory/plant- shows the pollution given off into the air from manufacturing
- a girl putting on hairspray- shows the chemicals being released as gasses into the air
- ice melting- shows the effect on the earth
- Trees- the niceness of trees
#1 is the best one because it relates to us, as a generation and what we’re doing
Hello,
My name is Corrine B from Parkway North and I’m calling regarding a school documentary project on Global Warming. I was wondering if there was anyone available who would be willing to do an interview with me. Is there any way we could meet, we can come to you, or you can meet us wherever is convenient for you. You can reach me at (#). For future reference, could i please get your name? Thank you very much. Have a nice day!
So far, my research on this subject has changed my mind and really surprised me. I’ve learned that there are actually good things about GW, in that the warming of the air and oceans can prevent devastating hurricanes like Katrina from occurring in the future. On the other hand, it is also causing floods due to the increased amount of rain and melting major areas of ice such as Greenland, the Ant-arctics, and the Ice Caps. Based on much of what I’ve learned, the focuz of my segment should still be the effect of GW on our generation, but more specifically, we should concentrate on….to be continued…
