Planning

Today ((today being last week)) in class we did some planning.  We figured out a few visual metaphors to use and have one ready to use now.  We also figured out more questions, the order we were going to put things in, and some people to interview.  We are now in the process of setting up an interview with Kelley Greenman as an expert for our group.  This should be awesome!

Can you be more specific about the visual metaphors? Explain it for someone who will not see it. Also, explain who Kelly Greenman is. . . you might even want to link to the NPR story about her in your blog :-)

ALrighty…well, a visua metaphor is a picture or video clip used to represent something more complex. For example, in our segment, we have a visual metaphor of the Carbon Footprint of teenagers. Instead of doing something like drawing a footprint mad eof carbon, or something like that, we are having a short, two second clip of someone walking over a Hollister bag in a puddle, leaving a footprint on it. Many teens today shop at Hollister, and many teens litter, too, so we figured that this would be a great way of addressing the Carbon Footprint they leave.

Kelley Greenman is one of the nicest people I have ever met! We interviewed her last night (I talk about that in my next blog) and it was a blast. She is a Major in Ecology at Washington University in St. Louis, MO and she really does know her stuff! You should take a look at my blog about our interview, because it tells about some of the interesting things we learned from her.
